Why is my fee higher than expected?
A short list of reasons a monthly fee might look bigger than you thought, and how to check the math.
Updated April 15, 2026
If your monthly fee looks bigger than you thought, here are the reasons that come up most often. We are happy to walk through the math with you any time.
More attributed fans than you remember
Our fee is a small cut on revenue from fans we attributed to you. If a trade brought you 20 fans and they kept spending for a few months, our fee on month 3 may include them too. So you might think "I did one trade two months ago, why is the fee still showing up?". The answer is: those fans are still your fans, and they are still spending.
How to check: open the invoice and read the line. Each line lists the fans by trade. Click any trade to see the date and the partner.
A higher tier rate
Most creators sit at the 20% rate. Brand-new creators are at 25% for a short time. Top of market creators get a custom 10%.
If you just moved tiers, your invoice may show a mix. Some at the old rate, some at the new. The exact split is shown on the invoice.
How to check: the invoice has a tier line at the top.
A taxes line
Some places charge sales tax or VAT on services. We list it as its own line. We do not hide tax in the fee.
How to check: scroll to the bottom of the invoice. If a tax line is there, that is the difference.
A failed-card surcharge
If we tried to charge an old card and it failed, we may add a small re-try fee from the card processor. We list this clearly. If you keep your card up to date, you never see this.
A pre-pay pack you bought mid-month
If you bought a pre-pay credit pack, that is a one-time charge. Not part of the recurring fee. It shows up on the invoice for the month you bought it. So a month with a pack will look bigger than a normal month.
A correction from a past month
If we found an over-charge or an under-charge in a past month, we put a correction line on the next invoice. It can go either way. Sometimes it is a credit (you pay less), sometimes a charge (you pay more).
How to check: a correction line will say "correction for [month]" with a positive or negative amount.
How to ask for help
If after reading the invoice the math still feels off, contact us. Send the invoice number and the line you do not understand. We will:
- Pull up the trade history that made the line.
- Walk you through the math step by step.
- Fix anything that was wrong.
We are here to be fair. If we made a mistake, we credit it back. If the math checks out, you walk away with full clarity. Either way is fine.
